City Hall will be closed during the winter holiday break. City Hall will close at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, and will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025.  

 During the holiday closure some services will continue to be provided to the public on a modified basis as outlined below:

 The Police Department lobby will be open for business during its normal hours. 

  • Public Works will be working their normal schedule, but will be closed on December 25th and January 1st; and close at noon on December 24th and January 31st. Public Works staff will be available to assist with discarded items, abandoned shopping carts, and hazards in the public right-of-way. The public can call (562) 383-4170 to report these types of items for pickup.
  • Community Services Department:
    • Children’s Museum – Closed December 24th, 25th, 31st (for private event) and January 1st 
    • Employment & Training – Closed December 25th and January 1st 
    • Child Development - Closed December 25th and January 1st
    • Recreation, Social Services, and Facility Maintenance – Closed December 25th and January 1st 
    • Homeless Outreach Services – Closed December 25th and January 1st 
    • Graffiti Abatement – Closed December 25th and January 1st (part time staff will be available to respond to graffiti abatement calls on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve)
  • Community and Economic Development – The department will be closed during the winter recess. Please note that there will be no active code enforcement occurring during the holiday break; however, the City’s Code Enforcement Supervisor will be monitoring e-mails and voicemails and will following up with compliance issues on an as needed basis. The Senior Building Inspectors will also be available for emergency life and safety issues on an as needed basis. In addition, the department is accepting requests for building inspections on certain days over the break, if the requests for inspections are received before 3:00 p.m. on December 23rd
