HOW TO VOTE

The Orange County Registrar of Voters will mail an official ballot for the November 8, 2022, election to each registered voter via the U.S. Postal Service on October 10, 2022.

Voters mark their mail ballot at home and choose from three easy and secure options to return the ballot:

- Place your completed ballot in the mail (no postage required); or

- Place your completed ballot in a ballot drop box located throughout Orange County; or

- Bring your completed ballot to a Vote Center by 8:00 p.m. on November 8th.  

The Orange County Registrar of Voters will operate more than 180 full-service Vote Centers throughout Orange County where you may also vote in person.  Select locations open daily beginning October 29; all Vote Centers will be open from November 5 through November 8.  For a list of Vote Center locations and hours, visit ocvote.gov/votecenter.  

Vote Centers in La Habra will be at the following locations:

La Habra Community Center (101 West Euclid Street):  Opens October 29

La Habra City School District Office (500 North Walnut Street):  Opens November 5

La Habra United Methodist Church (631 North Euclid Street):  Opens November 5

In addition, starting October 10 through November 8 at 8:00 p.m., ballot drop boxes in La Habra will be located at:

La Habra Branch Library (221 East La Habra Boulevard)

La Habra Family Resource Center (501 South Idaho Street)

CITY ELECTIONS
The residents of La Habra are represented by a five-member City Council who are elected on an at-large basis to four-year terms, with no term limits. La Habra General Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of even-numbered years and coincide with the Statewide General Election. Each December, the City Councilmembers choose one member to serve as Mayor and one member to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. The Mayor and the City Council are non-partisan.

SEEKING ELECTION & NOMINATIONS

Eligibility
Individuals who are interested in seeking election to the City Council must be residents and registered voters of the City of La Habra at the time nomination papers are issued. 

Nomination Documents Deadline
The period for filing of nomination documents by candidates, in elections consolidated with the regularly scheduled election, shall commence on the 113th day prior to the election. The nomination documents shall be filed no later than 5:00 p.m., on the 88th day prior to the regularly scheduled election, in the office of the City Clerk during regular office hours.

Incumbent Members

If nomination documents for an incumbent City Councilmember are not filed by 5:00 p.m. on the 88th day before the election, any person other than the person who was the incumbent on the 88th day shall have until 5:30 p.m. on the 83rd day before the election to file nomination documents for the elective office.
